Thanks to the 576 manhours provided by whiskey maker Ballantine’s (yes, the video is essentially a cool ad), street artist INSA was able to create gif-iti over 154,774 square feet of ground in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — that’s more than two and a half football fields — just across a marina from one of the city’s airports.

The area was painted and repainted, while two Pleiades satellites 431 miles above the earth took an image on each of four days. Put together, the result is this vibrant, pulsating patchwork of yellow and pink hearts, a recurring image in INSA’s art.

  • The list of RTE homophobes would give you chills…all happy to be such in 2000 not now in 2015. Some very decent people at RTE so not taking a pop at all at top levels. Some oblivious to what went on… But the RTE view of gay men and women was appalling. Even in 2000. Despite many gay men and women working for them at every level. Once they found out I was a big Gayer, RTE wasn’t that happy about having me on screen or on public forums ….  I am sick to death of RTE now being the benign channel of acceptance of homosexuality when it was a bastion of creaking, ancient codes……that lined up with conservative catholic teaching and disallowed any movement from the same narrow channel…

Ever wanted to try a full-bodied 30-year-old? On Valentine’s Night? Course you didn’t! Anyway:

There’s one idea that’s been percolating in Bompas & Parr’s collective consciousness for a little while now but has lain dormant while we considered the practical and ethical considerations of hosting an anatomical whisky tasting. This involves a fine, 25-year-old single malt paired with a 25-year-old performer, 30-year-old spirits with a 30-year-old and onwards, up to august, rare 50-year-old drams coupled with a half-century-old partner.

What makes it anatomical? The spirits will be drunk from the natural contours of the performers’ bodies, each born the same year the liquid was put in a cask.

There are gustatory and intellectual benefits to the practice, The heat of the body will raise the temperature of the whisky, helping to showcase the flavours as guests form a uniquely intimate bond with the performers.

Visit the Ace Hotel London Shoreditch on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, 14th February to use your tongue to explore the fancy body-shot and reflect on the implications of ageing of spirits and humanity alike.

Of course, older spirits are typically seen as more desirable. So there’s recompense for the fact that you are sipping your 50-year-old whisky from the naval of a half-century-old Hell’s Angel (well, that’s how we envisage it at least)!

Each performer will furthermore be asked to tell the compelling story of their life – the same length as that of the spirits to being sampled. This will both help elevate the practice of body-shots and grasp the full magnitude of the years the spirit has lain in cask, slowly gaining in complexity and maturity.

Because nothing says ‘exciting Valentine’s night out’ like sucking hooch out of the crevices of a 40-something in a hotel function room with 30 other demented weirdoes.

    Just don’t order a 12-year-old single malt.

  • I came down one morning and had missed a call from Shane Junior and I’d missed it at 4am. I knew he’d been out so I was panicking, thinking ‘Oh my God’, he might be in hospital and all that. And it had gone to voicemail and I was listening for about the first ten seconds and I was thinking, ‘What the hell is that?’

I realised his phone had gone off during his night of passion. I hope he’s not watching today but let me say I listened for four-and-a-half minutes, I was dead impressed.

Coleen Nolan listened to her son having sex and was dead impressed.

  • It’s a closed set, so there’s not all these production people around and…I’ve done a few of these now. It was Johnny’s first one, so I was more concerned about, you know, about making sure he was comfortable, so being the pro that I am I brought the Jameson and we each did a whiskey shot before we did it and it didn’t take that long and then it was good.

Anne Hathaway on taking “Song One” co-star Johnny Flynn under her wing to show him the ropes of filming a love scene.

  • I did get an invite to go to the awards but I didn’t get into football to be wearing tuxedos and that stuff. There were a lot more people deserving to be going than me. People like Stephanie Roche and her family.

Wexford Youths Women’s boss John Flood. As copyright holder of footage of Stephanie Roche’s goal — which has had almost 6m YouTube views — Flood was on the Fifa guest list in Switzerland but was happy to watch from Wexford and downplay his role in a football fairytale.

  • In Limerick – I’ve watched two-year-old kids sucking red bull from baby bottles.
