Snookered on red, pot brown

SNOOKER star Jimmy White revealed yesterday how he is cueing up Ireland as his second home after a 25-year love affair with the country.

Jimmy, 43, will move into his new pad in Kilcock, Co Kildare, this September once the finishing touches to his Irish getaway are completed.

He told the Irish Daily Mirror: “It’s a lovely house. Ireland will now be my second home.

“I’ll be living in the house for four or five months of the year. It’s got four bedrooms and, of course, there will be a snooker room so I can practice for tournaments.” Jimmy, nicknamed The Whirlwind, will have plenty of company when he moves into the house called Love Me Tender – as his old Rolling Stones pal Ronnie Wood lives nearby.

The English star added: “Unfortunately I won’t have a pub in my house like Ronnie has in his.

“He already lives in Clane in Co Kildare. He’s a great friend of mine.

“We’ve been mates for years and I’m sure me and him will be able to head down to our local for the odd pint of Guinness.””

Jimmy has been planning his move to Ireland for some time as he has been a regular visitor thanks to the Irish friends he has made in the snooker world.

He said: “I love Ireland. I’ve been coming over here doing exhibition matches with people like Ken Doherty for the last 25 years. So I just decided to set up in the place.

“It will be great for me to practice, and I’ll have Ken over to the house as well, practising for tournaments.”

Jimmy will spend four or five months a year at Kilcock, Co Kildare, home which is called Love Me Tender and will have a snooker room.

Or not: It’s being sold by Allsops in Dublin today.
