An Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Carrie Smyth, officially opened the newly constructed unisex changing facility at Sandycove Harbour. Despite its modest size, the planning and construction of the shelter has taken 3 years to complete and required the acquisition by the Council of the old Fisherman’s hut. Speaking on the day, An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Carrie Smyth said: “I am delighted to see the shelter for the bathers of Sandycove come to fruition. It has been especially welcomed by the dedicated bathers who have had to change in all weathers. The building is in keeping with the scenic location.” Among the people present on the day was President of the Sandycove Bathers Association, Fred Espey and the first two official lady members of the Bathers Association, Molly Molloy and Margaret David. Pictured were bathers Mary Connolly, Danielle Francois, Paula Murphy, Bernadette McNamee.
